A Home For MoM

Securing the Future Home of the Museum of Motherhood:

For more than two decades, The Museum of Motherhood has worked to elevate one of the most universal and least represented human experiences: motherhood.

Through exhibitions, public programs, art installations, storytelling, science education, advocacy, and cultural dialogue, MoM has become a globally recognized social change experiment — illuminating the art, science, history, and lived realities of mothers, women, caregivers, and families.

Now, the museum is at a pivotal moment.

After years of operating creatively and resourcefully on a modest budget, the Museum of Motherhood is seeking a new home in St. Petersburg that can support the next chapter of its public impact.

Why a New Space Matters

A permanent or long-term space would allow the Museum of Motherhood to:

  • Expand exhibitions on maternal health, reproductive science, caregiving, women’s history, and family culture
  • Host workshops, conferences, film screenings, performances, and intergenerational programs
  • Provide a gathering place for artists, scholars, educators, parents, doulas, and healthcare advocates
  • Preserve and archive important cultural materials related to motherhood and caregiving
  • Create a visible and welcoming civic space dedicated to maternal well-being and human connection
  • Support educational partnerships with schools, universities, and health organizations
  • Build long-term sustainability through memberships, rentals, cooperative partnerships, and programming

This is not simply about securing square footage.

It is about establishing a cultural home for stories, histories, and experiences that are too often overlooked.

The Opportunity

The Museum of Motherhood is currently exploring affordable spaces of 500–5,000 square feet in the Warehouse Arts District and surrounding creative neighborhoods of St. Petersburg.

With donor support, the museum can secure:

  • lease deposits and moving costs
  • build-out and exhibition preparation
  • climate-controlled archive storage
  • public programming space
  • accessible gathering areas
  • collaborative artist and community workspaces
  • a sustainable operational foundation for future growth

Why Support MoM Now

Across the country, conversations about maternal mental health, reproductive justice, caregiving labor, family systems, birth equity, and women’s history are becoming increasingly urgent.

Yet there are still very few dedicated cultural institutions focused on these subjects.

The Museum of Motherhood fills that gap.

Supporting this transition means helping preserve and grow:

  • maternal storytelling
  • reproductive and caregiving education
  • women-centered cultural history
  • interdisciplinary arts programming
  • community wellness initiatives
  • public conversations about care, family, and humanity itself

Naming & Sponsorship Opportunities

Leadership donors may have opportunities to support:

  • exhibition galleries
  • archives and collections
  • maternal health programming
  • educational classrooms
  • performance/event spaces
  • artist residencies
  • conference and lecture series
  • family resource areas
  • cooperative retail initiatives

Founding supporters of the new space will help shape the museum’s next generation of impact.

A Civic Investment in Care

Museums preserve what society values.

The Museum of Motherhood asks a simple but powerful question:

What would it mean to fully value caregiving, birth, maternal health, and the people who sustain human life?

A new home for MoM is an investment in culture, education, public health, community memory, and future generations.

Call to Action

We invite donors, foundations, businesses, healthcare leaders, artists, and community partners to help secure the Museum of Motherhood’s next home in St. Petersburg.

Together, we can create a lasting cultural space dedicated to care, creativity, science, storytelling, and human connection.
