Jess Soininen-Eddis

Last MOM ART ANNEX RESIDENCY of spring! We welcomed Jess Soininen-Eddis for a productive final week in March!

Jess teaches art to high school students in New York and in her personal practice she uses collage techniques with fabric and paint on canvas.

As a busy working-mom, she finds it challenging to make time for her own creations, so she applied to spend a week with us here

in #StPete during her spring break.

Jess came to us last Sunday and has been awesomely engaged in art-making during her stay, as well as making time for healing swims in the Gulfof Mexico.

It has been wonderful connecting with Jess about her experiences as an artist and a mother. We have referred her to the “artist parent index” with Sarah Irvin Art moving forward.

She leaves behind an incredible gift: a work of art painted on this mid-century modern chair (pictured below), which will be on view here at the museum when we reopen for tours in September. MORE ABOUT JESS HERE [LINK].

If you are interested in applying for a residency here at MOM, please go to our website to find out more. And, tours of the space are available by appointment only in Artist Enclave Historic Kenwood: “where art lives.” St. Pete Women’s Collective St. Petersburg Arts Alliance #art #mother #Mama #JoinMama
