Honoring The Legacy Of Mothers, Past, Present, and Future
The Motherhood Foundation has become the MOM Art Annex
The MOM Art Annex is an IRS-designated Florida non-profit501c3 incubator project for the Museum of Motherhood
The MOM Art Annex is a designated Florida 501c3 non profit. Our current physical location is made possible by award-winning artist and activist Martha Joy Rose. The Annex serves to further our vision for the Museum of Motherhood, which is currently online only. At our location in St. Petersburg, you can communicate with the director using our online calendar. Other opportunities include remote internships, remote residencies, international exhibitions & collaborations, online classes, and annual conferences which are held offsite.
The life of our project is centered on the community of creators, families, and students who engage with MoM’s cultural presentations, education, and exhibitions for the purposes of increased awareness, inspiration, and opportunity.
The goal of the Museum of Motherhood is to serve populations within the academic, social, and intersectional community both online and in-person. Our visitors and volunteers have included young students age 16-21, graduate students, doctors, doulas, BIPOC women & mothers, feminists, single mothers, grandmothers, LGBTQA populations, child-free by choice advocates, single men, fathers, artists, nuns, Doe-fund workers, babies, artists, and intellectuals. We have pioneered programs in social justice with the Bronx Defenders (New York City), Saving Mothers (International), and Tampa Bay Breastfeeding Coalition (Florida) to name a few.
Until the Museum of Motherhood, no place on Earth collected, preserved, and disseminated information and artifacts about the many roles of mothers, and the many types of family. Many museums are well presented, educational, and entertaining. Yet, in addition, how many discuss the historical contributions of women’s labor, the breakthrough science of procreation, and art made from the maternal perspective. Our scope is uniquely comprehensive and focused.
We have actively and successfully organized pop-up exhibits on the Upper East Side of NY, multiple university settings, and a variety of cities. Each year, we organize residency opportunities, internships, conferences, and exhibits.
The need is great. Our current plans are focused on building our MoM Team in order to raise funds for a next-stage evolution. Business plans are available upon request. Here are a few ways to ‘Get Involved’.

MFI has Moved. Formerly MFI in NYC:
The Motherhood Foundation Inc. is a certified nonprofit 501c3 that creates, produces, and presents artistic, educational and cultural content that studies and supports women, mothers, and their activities. MFI disseminates information about these individuals for broad public consumption while paying tribute to families free of age, race, and socio-economic barriers. MFI cares about, and acts upon the status of women while celebrating the courage, fortitude, and ingenuity of caregivers, elucidating their experiences, and addressing important issues, while creating meaningful content, and providing compelling community experiences.
GOALS:
Motherhood Foundation seeks to marry education, herstory, creativity, culture, and community for the benefit of all with a special emphasis on women who are mothers by amplifying their voices. By collecting examples of the scope and breadth of the massive contributions m/others make, their works become recognized and generations benefit from the legacy and documentation of the collective cultural voice.
MFI seeks to establish the Museum Of Motherhood, a world-class International Museum to promote the new field of mother studies, mother-made art, and the evolution of family while honoring the achievements of women in perpetuity and therefore preserving their legacy.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
MFI seeks to highlight women’s achievements and honor their courage through the promotion of Maternal studies, and the creation of artistic and cultural content. Namely, MFI seeks to honor and celebrate (M)others’ stories through ‘Motherhood In Motion’ exhibits, literary publications, theatrical presentations, artistic displays, and through the creation of The Museum Of Motherhood.
These displays and presentations will be made visible through private showings, large-scale group gatherings, hosted events, literary readings, music festivals, museum presentations, and conferences.
